Live Edge Table - Backgammon in Green, White, and Black

This piece needed a great deal of stabilizing, hence the beautifully ribboned maple bowties, 13 in all. This “crotch” cut brings stunning grains running in every direction virtually illuminating the table as light refracts from different angles.

The blue, green and white playing surface set the stage for striking colored checkers, dice and other accessories. It's a beautifully rich and bold piece that will accent any décor and makes for a really fun table to enjoy and play on.

It all started with Bill and his four siblings playing backgammon, a game taught by their mother. They continued the tradition by teaching their 16 children to play. Legacy Boards initially evolved out of necessity for a bigger, more functional board for Bill to play with his four growing boys. That board is still in use today! Its success inspired him to create custom boards for each of them. During these immersive projects, Bill developed processes and tools, some designed on notebook paper and others adapted from tools used in other disciplines, resulting in our current process. Self-teaching all the while.

Once each of the boys had their own board and Bill's passion and desire to create grew, he had to find a new outlet. He began experimenting with live edge slabs, resulting in his first backgammon table, and then a second and a third. But what does one do with all these tables? That’s when Bill began donating them to local charities for auction, and they were selling! He was giving back to the community, and selfishly, it allowed him to keep making them, doing what he loves.

Soon enough, this passion was also passed along to his wife, Kerri. Partnering with her, the couple established a formidable husband-and-wife team, pooling their creativity and craftsmanship into each piece they produce. Nestled just north of Asheville, NC, the duo works hand in hand, infusing every board with premium materials, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering dedication. “We are inspired to know all who play on our Legacy Boards will find themselves immersed not only in the love of the game and the enjoyment it provides for old and young alike but also in the natural beauty and details of our unique handmade creations.
